a Director of Manufacturing Operations based out of
Charlottesville, VA.The Charlottesville Manufacturing Director is
responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team building products
that support a variety of military customers. This role primarily
supports the Naval and Oceanic Systems business unit; a key element
of the Maritime/Land Systems & Sensors (MLSS) division within the
Mission Systems sector.The Manufacturing Director will lead a high
performing Manufacturing team of approximately 200 employees
responsible for a vast portfolio of products and processes
including: wire harness build, assembly, test, machining, painting,
sustainment and product development.Qualified candidates will have
demonstrated success leading organizations within cost and schedule
while achieving a high level of product quality and employee
engagement in a safe environment. The position requires a systems
thinking approach, unwavering ethics and values, and the ability to
be a trusted partner. Candidates must have a proven track record of
solving complex problems through systematic evaluation of
information, effective communication, and leading change with a
diverse set of internal and external customers and suppliers. The
Manufacturing Director will report to the Senior Director of
Virginia Manufacturing.The ideal candidate will have the ability to
improve Product/Process designs using LEAN tools and Advanced
Manufacturing Solutions while focusing on employee safety and
engagement.Major Responsibilities:
- Safety. Number one priority.
- Operational excellence meeting our customer commitments and
protecting our people and products.
- Lead effective continuous improvement projects based on the
principles of applied statistics and lean manufacturing.
- Develop, communicate and implement vision, strategy, goals and
metrics that drive business objectives for tangible
improvements.
- Excellent relationships and accountability to internal
customers communicating status and achievement to objectives.
- Communicate performance up and down the organization.Basic
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant
experience in a manufacturing or related environment.
- Minimum of 5 years formal management experience.
- Progressive leadership experience in manufacturing/production,
operations, program management, engineering, testing, maintenance
or related area.
- Experience with industry and management methodologies focused
on continuous improvement in manufacturing, such as ISO 9000, World
Class Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma.
- Experience with ERP/MES and PLM business systems.
- US Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance.Preferred
Qualifications:
- Experience in running an organization that has been through a
lean transformation.
- Experience with advanced manufacturing solutions including
automation, augmented and virtual reality, additive manufacturing,
artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Six Sigma greenbelt/blackbelt.
- Program Management experience.
- Experience with Quality Management and Supplier Quality
Management.
- Active Security Clearance.Salary Range: $155,100 -
